Hello Everyone! Welcome to lesson 4 of the Prophetic Art Challenge, Vol. 1! In this lesson I’ll be helping you understand watercolor transparency, as we look at the theme of hope. Watercolor transparency is something I get a LOT of questions about in the Bible journaling community.

Let’s understand watercolor transparency

In this lesson, you’ll learn a few things, but I want to highlight watercolor transparency. People often ask me if watercolor is transparent, or if it will cover the layers under it, (such as Bible text).

The reality is, watercolor is transparent. However, if used incorrectly, it can be applied in a more “opaque” fashion, which is not transparent. There is also watercolor designed for things like Japanese art, which is made on the opaque side. Regardless what type of watercolor though, all will be transparent if you water down the pigment.
